Ella and Adam had a fun, and unforgettable wedding day at Grub, all organised in under 6 months. After visiting the Grub wedding fayre last year, the couple decided they loved the venue so much they didn’t want to risk missing out on their dream location, Ella and Adam got straight to work with planning.
Morning prep
Using an Airbnb (an ideal location, only 10 minutes from Grub) for prep the morning of, Ella chose to do her hair and makeup herself – with her bridal party, which made for a very personal and relaxed morning. With the Bride in the ideal environment, it was easy to catch unposed moments and document her morning authentically. Ella wanted to completely tailor every aspect of her day, and part of this was choosing the perfect dress. After consideration, she chose a unique blue dress designed by Teuta Matoshi,a Kosovo-Albanian designer. Ella was taken by the detail across the neckline, and the colour which was her favourite.
Ceremony
Grub does not have a licence for official wedding ceremonies so the couple got married at their local registry office earlier in the year so they could enjoy a completely personalised day with family and friends. I’m pretty familiar with Grub as a wedding venue; it always helps things to go extra smoothly, knowing the staff and how things are run. Given that Adam works in Film and Cinema, Grub was the perfect alternative wedding venue for this couple, as a refurbished 18th-century cinema. Their ceremony was conducted by the brilliant Connie from Wit & Wonder who retold Ella and Adam’s story, packed with funny details. The couple decided to play a fun game of Rock, Paper, Scissors to determine who would say their vows first.
With the ceremony over, Ella and Adam walked down the aisle between their guests, armed with bubble guns.
Personal touches
If you are looking for a bespoke day, with an amazing atmosphere, Grub is the ideal location for you. Ella and Adam made use of their creativity, with many personal touches. For example, using bubble guns instead of confetti to make their first exit among their guests.
The couple loved Grub as it was, so didn’t want to add much extra décor, and went with home-made candle jars for their wedding reception space, paired with handpicked wildflowers spread across the tables. They also arranged for each table to write them an anniversary card, to open a year later.
Grub Food
Perhaps the star of the show- the couple picked out an all vegan menu from the Grub food truck options, opting for ‘Desert Island Dumplings’, @oscarsdogsmcr, and ‘Nina’s Taco truck’, all of which made for a night of amazing street food shared in a relaxed space, all organised by the happy newlyweds.
