Returning to Hanbury Barns always feels a bit like catching up with an old friend—one who surprises you with something new every time. It’s a venue I know well, and yet this summer, for Georgia and Joshua’s big day, I found myself pausing to take in the newly refurbished bridal prep room. Just stepping into the colourful, floral wallpaper and soft pink walls, you could feel the excitement building. Between the new mirrors, stylish lighting, and comfy furnishings, it’s a space designed to put even the most jittery bride at ease.
Getting Ready
Georgia started her morning with her sisters aka the bridesmaids – along with her mum, sharing laughter and anticipation in the new Dressing Room. Meanwhile, Joshua and his best man (who’s also his older brother) suited up in one of the pods just a short stroll away.
The Outdoor Ceremony
If there’s one thing you absolutely can’t plan for at a British wedding, it’s the weather. Georgia and Joshua had their hearts set on an outdoor ceremony, and they got their wish: the skies held, and the sun even made a cameo. Guests picked a seat, not a side, following the couple’s welcoming sign, and the easy mingling in the ceremony pavilion set the tone for a relaxed, joy-filled celebration from the very start.
Reception and Personal Touches
The wedding breakfast room was nothing short of a Pinterest dream—sage green accents for the tables, blush pink for the bridesmaids. Georgia and Joshua made the day unmistakably theirs by weaving in thoughtful details throughout. There was a ceramic replica of their beloved sausage dog, and guests could catch up on the couple’s story via a printed newspaper, and—my personal favourite—a crisp wall fully loaded with all their favourite flavours.
The speeches were a photographer’s treat, equal parts laughs and happy tears. Joshua’s promises delivered on humour and heart: “I can’t promise to put the toilet seat down, but I can promise I’ll always be there for you,” to which Georgia, quick as ever, shot back, “Can you at least wipe it?”
Final Thoughts
Ask Georgia’s little niece Millie what stood out most, and she’ll say, “The dress!”—but for most, it was the genuine warmth, the fun touches, and the feeling of being with people who matter most that made the whole day unforgettable. The night kicked off with a packed dance floor and delighted faces all around.
