Sandhole Oak Barn is one of my favourite wedding venues to work at because it offers beautiful settings for wedding photography. From the stylishly decorated dressing rooms for the bridal party to the wide-open spaces of the grounds of Sandhole Oak Barn, this wedding venue is a photographer’s dream. This particular wedding’s bride and groom, Natalie and Damian, certainly had outstanding taste and it showed across every inch of their elegant big day.
Documentary Style Wedding Photography
Natalie and Damien’s wedding photographs featured a few posed wedding portraits with wedding guests and with each other, but the couple mainly wanted to use my skills as a documentary style wedding photographer. My method is to melt into the background so I can capture unique moments as they naturally unfold and create authentic souvenirs of the special day. There are never any interruptions or shouts of ‘Say Cheese!’ from me when I’m working.
This style of wedding photography really worked when it came to the Bridal preparations when Natalie’s mother and bridesmaids got ready in the wedding venue’s private area, The Dressing Rooms. The Bridal Party could relax and get their hair and makeup done whilst enjoying a glass or two of bubbly. With sophisticated yet cosy decor, the peaceful space was a perfect haven for finishing touches and for when it was time for Natalie to put on her dress.
Packed with Elegance and Emotion
The dress! Natalie’s choice of a fitted and flared champagne with white lace gown really was the perfect choice for the occasion. Combined with the dark blue colour scheme worn by the groom, groomsmen and bridesmaids, this couple really showed off their chic style. The wedding ceremony room complimented the look with its exposed wooden beams and, although the place was flooded with natural light, the addition of well-placed fairy lights created a beautiful atmosphere for the civil ceremony. There were very few dry eyes in the place too, with everyone including the groom and groomsmen shedding a few tears.
Stunning views of the Cheshire Countryside
The wedding guests were able to then enjoy the landscape during the outside drink reception on the patio at Sandhole Oak Barn. Here, there were blue skies and sunshine as well as acoustic guitar music to accompany the drinks.
Sunset Portraits
After the wedding breakfast, which was provided by the venue’s exclusive caterers, Top Tables, I took the happy couple for some portraits across Sandhole Oak Barn’s beautiful grounds. The venue has some gorgeous settings which include a breathtaking lake and a classic courtyard. An early evening photoshoot meant that I could capture the couple against the incredible sunset which ended the day. With the broad skylines and dramatic shadows, this really gave the couple some memorable wedding photographs to treasure.
Party Time!
Sandhole Oak Barn’s ceremony room was then expertly transformed into the party room for the wedding reception. This was kicked off with the tradition of throwing the bouquet and cutting the cake before people tore up the dancefloor with the help of a saxophone player and DJ.
